It’s a new Day!

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

I found out today that I had made a few careless mistakes on the blogroll. There were several links that did not function, I believe they are all working now. My appologies to patrons of the other blog of mine: Demented Blogger. Even the link to this one was dysfunctional….

We made a run to Wally world today, yay! I’ll bet you could tell I was thrilled. I am not a big fan of WW, but it does have its uses.

Misty, our new kitten has a learning curve to deal with I’m afraid, she likes to get on counters…. Her favorite thing is to curl up in a lap though, she is a real sweety! Her fat little belly fits in the palm of my hand, I wonder how long that will last.

Tomorrow it’s my turn for the learning curve, class starts for my new career. It might prove fun to find a uniform to fit these long legs. Oh well.

Anyone else keep an online journal?

Our first fire of the year is burning nicely! It has decided to get cold down here, it’s hard to remember when I thought his fine spring weather….

I’m about half way through the book “On a pale Horse.” by Piers Anthony, it is a fun read and as always filled with ‘puns.’

Thats all of today…

Tom

Another Sunday night

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

It is really cold here (for here) still, in the 40’s tonight, maybe high 30’s. It really isn’t a great deal of fun without heat. We have a fireplace in the living room, it’s the old fashioned kind that lets all the heat escape….

Maybe someday I’ll get a central air system installed when I get rich, Ya right!

I didn’t accomplish a whole lot today, read a little,  cleaned up my desk, played with the cat. Speaking of which, she has been christened Misty. Ornery little bugger!

Maybe tomorrow I’ll try to winter proof the house a bit, not too terribly tough in Florida but, it still needs done.

It seems strange indeed to see my desk set up in this house after so long, I really wanted the floor done first which it is at last. This room anyway. Now that I am working again maybe I’ll eventually get around to some of the other projects needing done here.

Well that’s it for now,

Tom

A slow and easy Sunday morn…

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

We ordered a writing course, it covers all the bases of sentence structure,etc.. My son needed it for home schooling, looks like he and I will learn together. Actually I’m looking forward to it, I can flirt with the teacher, I think she’ll let me this time around. (At least she has for the last 20 odd years and I haven’t gotten slapped yet!)

I start classes for the new job next Tuesday, definitely looking forward to that. I hope it will leave time to write. If all else fails the writing will slow but not stop.

My short story Illyiad’s Paradox, is going out today to family and friends not on the accentuate forum. Everyone on the forum already has access, I need new victims to torture….

A fine day here, cold (for here), but fine. The last several have been filled with storms and gloom, a nice change!

Sorry this is late, exhaution had set in and sleep seemed the best cure.

Rain and thunder

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

Well it appears that I have a new job, finally. I haven’t worked since the first week in August, and it was becoming very painful!

Still no critiques on my short story yet, nothing from the judges. Yay. Angel was kind enough to be my only critique so far.

I find I’m in need of a decent digital camera, a few of the magazines are requiring photos and it helps the articles. I found a web site for a magazine I used to subscribe to in better times that I can write for, pictures are required.Looks like I’ll be looking for one soon now that I am working again.

It is storming here, lightning and thunder oh my! The power is flashing, I may lose it soon.

I reread an old favorite today, Back to the Stone Age, by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Talk about time warp. The copyright is 1936. His imagination still amazes me.

The next book on the reread list is also by an imaginative Author. Piers Anthony’s, On a Pale Horse. Although slightly on the bizarre side it is also on the favorite list.

That’s it for today,

Tom

Thursday

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

I wrote several intros to articles for AC today. Now I need to flesh them out and polish.

No new critiques on the short story for accentuate yet, really not helpful! No judges comments yet, I asked for them so hopefully they will show up soon.

I deleted myself from my Dollar survey experiment, nothing but advertising they wanted me to sign up for, or advertising junk mail…. I did make five bucks though!

The wife and I got very little sleep last night, her new ‘friend’ thought we really should stay up and play. I had to take a mid day nap I was so tired . She is a sweety though, no name as yet.

Mom’s computer has decided to go on strike the cable modem shut off. I told her to unplug it and try to reboot it, ours does that frequently. Its tough being 2,000 miles away when she needs help.

Two job possibilities today, neither great but anything beats nothing. I should know something tomorrow I hope. Seems when you hit the 50’s, people really don’t want to hire you.

Tonight was TV night, Smallville and Supernatural, both were good as usual.

That’s all for now,

Tom

Lost and Found

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

Well I had AC publish two out of three today. I have finished a new one for AC as well to be submitted tomorrow.

I have been dealing with others hurt feelings today, some very good people took the contest news badly, including me. Hopefully feedback will be offered on each losing story, otherwise no improvement will come of it.

We were adopted! A small grey furball captured my wife’s heart on a walk, she is a baby but weened. She purrs loudly and eats and sleeps a lot for now. The dogs feel outnumbered four to two I’m sure.

She caused a trip to K-mart for a new litter box, she thinks we belong now. We are hers!

I finally found the hardware to my desk, after five years of hiding in plain sight, it presented itself. The extra shelves are a blessing! Room for more books from storage. Funny how a two thousand mile move will lose things.

See ya later,

Tom

A bad day…

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

The Accentuate services short story contest finalists are announced!

The names of the finalists are in, I’m not on it. I had a feeling it needed more, but with so few comments it was hard to figure out what. Guess I need to find a bunch of readers that will comment….

Congratulations to all who did place! There were some very good entries. The winners will be picked November 19Th. It appears losing entries will not receive much attention, not much in the way of a rejection slip. So it’s anyone’s guess why they didn’t place, and no way to improve on it. Other than to post it in the forum critique section, other readers will critique it, not judges.

Some took it harder than others, but I think everyone that did not place felt out of sorts. Being my first contest I really did not know what to expect, now I do.

Well it’s on to bigger and better things! All OF my AC have been accepted so I guess I need to write some more. Three to get published but paid for.

That is it for now,

Tom

It does get better

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

Today seemed to iron out most of the problems that were bothering me yesterday. At least I’m not wound up like a top, waiting to explode.

The Accentuate services finalist’s will be announced tomorrow at around noon. I think it will be chocked up as a learning experience…

I tried to write a poem tonight, boy is that ever not my genre…. I gave up poetry once I decided I really haven’t understood it or cared for it since Ogden Nash. Isn’t poetry supposed to rhyme?

Cracked open the Practical English Handbook today, time to study. I got that book for college, seems like a very long time ago.

It got colder again today, 57 degrees. Brrrrr! Hard to believe I once roamed Colorado in a t-shirt at this temperature range.

Well that’s all for now.

It’s been one of those days.

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

I had one of those days today. Those precious days where you just wanna quit. Nothing came out right, not even close.

Argued with my wife, son, god and anybody else that would listen. I had the IRS decide that since I paid off a credit card through a payment deal, they want $542.00.

Now that’s gratitude for ya. The balance was about $3400, I paid about $1200 and the IRS wants taxes back on $3400.

I found out I had a major oops, in a submitted short story for a contest.

My Dads in a hospital 2000 miles away, there is no possible way to go see him.

Now the computer is running in turtle mode, there’s no switch that can fix that…

Some days are Diamonds and some days are coal, if this keeps up I’ll need an iron lung!

Ok, I’m feeling much better now! Just needed to get that out of my system.
