Progress and goals
The Scale Auto project is moving forward if slowly. The body is closer to ready for paint with some minor filling needed in areas where the major customizing took place. This will be the fourth time that I re-worked the cowl area in front of the windshield. It still needs some pin holes filled, but it is closer to photographic material.
I narrowed the front end by about 1/2 inch to get the front wheels inside the fenders as they were under the outside edge of the fenders on the original model. I still have to lower the front end as it still sits high and has a completely wrong stance for a pro street car.
I did not realize how poorly this model fit together until after I had done some serious work on it. The dash doesn’t even come close to fitting and leaves gaps at the ends and front that will have to be filled. I’m am sure that will also interfere with the windshield when the time comes, necessitating further customization in the process.
I also have a major problem in fitting the filler pieces where the body meets the interior that can now be seen when the front clip is tilted forward. the body needs to be in place to attach them and yet it can’t be…. What fun! I will have to build them onto the interior and hope it doesn’t self destruct when assembling the final time.
Also the front clip (fenders and hood) have to be attached and removed to get the fit right, but will need removed for final paint and finish. What a pain!
I have set a few goals for myself for the coming year. To finally quit smoking is the biggie, to be published in print, requiring the completion of the above project or at least that is one possibility, and to create my own website. Last but not least, to complete, and submit a short story for print. I’ll not name these resolutions doomed to failure, but goals to be met and achieved.
